Kids Summer Climbing Camp
July 24 - 27, 2017
Hosted and facilitated by AMGA Single Pitch Instructor, Kevin Shon, and the Adventure WV climbing guide staff, this camp is open to any and all entrants ages 6-16. The curriculum of this camp is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue the sport of top roping and bouldering, both indoors and outside.
What will my child learn?
- Meet new people while learning climbing skills
- How to boulder using spotters and a crash pad
- How to spot
- How to use a guide book
- How to top rope climb
- How to belay
- How to rappel
Who will my child be climbing with?
Participants will be split into two groups based on age and climbing experience:
- Ages 6-11
- Ages 11-16
What is provided?
- Pick up/drop off from the WVU
Rec Center required, but all transportation to climbing sites provided.
- Light snacks and water will be provided every day
(parents are encouraged to send
their child with lunch and drinks for the day).
- Helmets, harnesses and other equipment will be provided. However, personal equipment
is acceptable (inspection by climbing staff required).
fifth day includes a
discounted half day at the WVU Outdoor Ed Center with Alpine Tower climbing
and the Giant
Swing followed by a potluck picnic.

Price: $199.00 + tax

- Add-on: $40.00 (1/2 climbing ½ day Outdoor Ed Center Alpine tower)
- Total w/ Add-on: $250.94
- $65.97/day + tax = $70.18/day
- X2 day minimum
- = $140.36 for 2 days
- = $210.54 for 3 days
Over 50 vertical feet of three dimensional climbing on the Alpine Tower.
